A Study to Assess the Knowledge and Attitude Among Adolescents Regarding Sleep Hygiene in Selected School at Ariyankuppam, Puducherry.

Abstract

Background  :   Sleep Hygiene is essential for the physical, mental, and academic well- being of Adolescents. Adequate knowledge and positive attitude that promotes   the healthy sleep practices. This study was conducted to assess the knowledge and attitude among Adolescents Regarding sleep Hygiene in selected school at Ariyankuppam, Puducherry.


Methods: A descriptive research design was used. A total 120 numbers of Adolescents were selected and using convenience sampling. Descriptive research design was used.  Data were collected using a self- structured knowledge questionnaire and an attitude questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.


Results: The study revealed that 50.8% of   Adolescents had moderately Adequate knowledge, and 25.0% had Adequate knowledge, and 24.2%had inadequate knowledge. Regarding attitude 60.0 % showed a moderately favourable attitude. A moderate positive correlation(r=0.472, p<0.01) was found between knowledge and attitude.


Conclusion:  The study concluded that the adolescents had moderate knowledge and attitude regarding sleep hygiene. Educational interventions are needed to improve awareness and promote healthy sleep practices.
