Abstract

The objective of this study was: To analyze the impact of digital tools on the development of metalinguistic awareness in university students in the Ecuadorian educational context. It was epistemologically framed in the positivist paradigm, adopting a quantitative approach. The methodological design used corresponds to a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. Based on the objective and depth of the analysis, the research is typified as an explanatory or causal level study, determining as Central Hypothesis (H1): the integration of digital tools in the teaching process significantly increases the development of metalinguistic awareness in university students in the Ecuadorian educational context. To carry out a representative analysis, a stratified sample was calculated, whose sample size represents a ratio of 33%, which resulted in a sample of 448 students and 66 teachers. Among its results, it is evident that students perceive a higher level of use and integration of digital tools {x} = 4.12; SD = 0.64; with respect to teacher perception {x} = 3.85; SD = 0.71. In contrast, teachers self-assess the level of development of metalinguistic awareness with higher scores {x} = 4.22; SD = 0.51; compared to students {x} = 3.98; SD = 0.58.
